Adapted to upper Great Plains; grows to 2’, adapted to a wide range of soils, best adapted to deep, well drained soils; more cold hardy than Orchardgrass.

Germination in 14 days, early spring/late summer.
Varieties Regar – from Idaho, rapid germination and seedling vigor, good drought tolerance, spreads vegetatively, excellent winter hardiness. Paddock– more resistant to Silver Top than Regar, very winter hardy
