Adapted from Texas to Canada; grows to 6’, strongly rhizomatous (more so than A. gerardii); best suited to coarse, sandy soil textures; racemes hairier than Big Bluestem; foliage much bluer, stronger rhizomatous nature; excellent for disturbed, sandy sites.
Seed with specially designed drill capable of managing light, chaffy seeds; 4–6 pounds PLS/acre, no later than mid summer. 125,000 seeds/pound.
