Native to all of North America except California and the Pacific Northwest; adapted to most places east of the Rocky Mountains; grows to 5'; adapted to a very wide range of soils and climates, best in fertile lowlands; moderate drought tolerance; tolerant of mildly acidic and saline, lowest pH 4.0–4.5.Drill seeded to 1/4” – 3/4” deep at 5–8 pounds PLS/acre (use 50–100% more seed if broadcast seeding). 389,000 seeds/pound.
